After reading the memo you wrote, you
and your colleagues know that the person leaving for Leicester
will be living and working in a very multicultural environment.
Having read many websites, you have also learned a lot about
race and ethnicity and maybe your initial definition of
'racism', for example, is beginning to change. Today it
is the second day of your quest and you decide to change
your point of view and to take a look at life in Britain
from the immigrants' perspective. You start to wonder, what
kind of experience is immigration to Britain for the immigrants?
What similarities are there in the immigrants' home culture
and British culture? What differences? What practical problems
do the immigrants face? You decide that you want to learn
about immigrant experiences by watching a film, and after
that you can maybe give your colleagues some concrete examples
of 'culture clash'.
