Task
You will get instructions for watching the film in the face-to-face tutorial at the beginning of the term. While watching the film, pay attention to the following
questions. Take notes.
- How are the different ethnic communities represented?
- What ethnic markers are there of the immigrant culture?
- What ethnic markers are there of the British culture?
- What kinds of problems do the immigrants face?
After watching the film, write an
e-mail of about 500 words in English. Write your text
in e-mail format (use the links above for help) and address
the e-mail to your fictional colleagues. Your e-mail should
contain a brief description of the film, answers to the
four questions above, your description of the life of Asian
immigrants in Britain as portrayed in the film, and other
relevant information that you learned from the film, including
your own opinion of it. Remember to give examples from the
film, i.e. refer to the exact scenes of the film of which
you are writing about. Include a list of sources (see the
link lists above) that you used (to help you study the film)
at the end of your e-mail. Post the e-mail (e.g. as an attachment
file) to the course workspace in Moodle.
