Conclusion

Sample Essay

The main function of a conclusion is to wind-up your writing. It should briefly summarize the main points of your text. The conclusion should also echo your introduction – key terms need to correspond in both paragraphs. Furthermore, the reader should finish reading your text feeling that their questions/expectations have been satisfactorily answered.

CHECK POINTS

Does the conclusion...
- succeed in satisfying the readers expectations?
- recap the introduction or thesis statement?
- correspond to the title and introduction?
- sum up all your main points/main details of your writing?
- bring up new ideas not covered earlier in the text?
- seem too weak, too strong?
- end in an appropriate way (no new questions)?
- seem final?
- succeed in being a real conclusion and not just a summary of your paper?
- provide a satisfying closure?
