Overall Response

Sample Essay

In overall response your peer will give feedback on their immediate reactions and feelings to your text, such as, how they enjoyed your text, what was surprising, and what they would like to know more about. In addition, they will consider the clarity of your writing as well as its strengths and weaknesses.

Audience and purpose are two important concepts for you to consider when writing your academic paper. Who you are writing for and what you are trying to do with your text will influence every aspect of your writing. Focusing on your intended audience and having a clear purpose behind your writing will not only help you begin your writing but will also influence your decisions about what you will need to include or leave out of your text. The purpose of your text may vary from being an informative paper to explaining or persuading the reader of your unique point of view.
