The feedback on exercise two:

  1. The last clip contained expression from most different categories. First of which was that of concluding. There were actually two expressions to fit this category. The first one you could find at the very beginning: ‘Okay, finally in conclusion I would like to leave off…etc.’ And the second one was at the very end of the clip: ‘Okay, so that concludes my presentation…etc.’ The second categories giving an opinion and persuading and convincing were more or less intertwined as they were within the same sentence. It starts opinionatedly: ‘I must say that this is based mostly on speculation…etc.’ and continues persuatingly with: ‘…as we know there hasn’t been much research done…etc.’ The third and last category you could find in this clip was clarifying a point. It was possible to find two separate expressions to fit this category. The first one was in the middle of a sentence actually: ‘…racial dominance in a sport is not a consistent cause, that is, it is not a real obstacle to success.’ The second one begins a sentence with: ‘So that means that an athlete may doubt his or her performance…etc.’ Expressions this long are obviously a bit hard to find in the corpus, but if you tried to make searches in the corpus on the useful expressions which you could find from the table, you should have been able to get some search results!
