Self-accessing the library

The Google log

Check that you have read the general instructions for self-accessing students before you start. IMPORTANT! Do not close this window before having sent your answers to your e-mail.

Study the three chapters in the Google section of the library and answer the questions below. In this section the log is more about your own experiences and thoughts than about right or wrong answers. Remember also that the log is your personal tool, so you may add your own comments and notes on anything that you find worthwhile.

1. Have you used Google or any other search engine as a language learning tool before? For what purposes and how?

2. Which of the search parameters were already known to you? Which ones are the most likely to be of use to you later? Did you find some of them particularly uselful or useless?

3. Sum up the ideas you now have on using the Internet and Google as language learning tools. What can they be used for? When would you use them for this purpose? Illustrate your thoughts by concrete examples.

4.What kind of skills are required from the learner surfing the Internet for language learning purposes? Can those skills be improved? How does this type of learning suit you personally?

When you have provided your answers, enter your e-mail address in the assigned field and save the log by sending it to yourself.
